Marguerite Wibaux

Marguerite Wibaux dreamed of entering a convent before turning to art — redirecting devotion rather than abandoning it. Raised in Rome, she works at the intersection of belief, image, and desire.

Her practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation, drawing from religious iconography as much as from fashion and contemporary visual culture. The sacred is never treated as distant: it slips into the everyday, contaminates gestures, bodies, and images. Desire runs through her work as both a force and a disturbance — sometimes explicit, often latent.

Her miniature paintings are her signature works: condensed formats where intensity is held at close range. Each piece functions as a site of projection, where intimacy, power, and belief quietly collide.
